PRESS RELEASE

                                                              OCTOBER 23, 2008

Experience, leadership, and integrity are not just words, they are the qualities that your councilman has brought to the Lincoln Town Council.  Stated Macksoud:  "During my life, I have had many opportunities to learn, develop and refine my leadership skills.  This occurred during my 26 year military career, as a volunteer leader in my local and national professional nurse anesthesia associations, and my involvement with my children's activities."

He continues; "I have always had a deep sense of 'duty, honor, country,' and that is why I have always been involved in serving my country, state, community and profession.  I feel that I have to give something back, make positive changes, and make things better for future generations."

Macksoud said he feels"his greatest compliment came from Congressman Kennedy, in a letter that was sent to the AANA, in which Kennedy stated; "My uncle President Kennedy famously stated, 'Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.'  Keith Macksoud has illustrated this principle by the way he has chosen to live his life."

Says Macksoud: "As I look at the literature of my opponent, I have to ask what kind of experience can he bring?  What leadership has he demonstrated?  What has he done to contribute to his community?  I hope the voters in District 3 will compare my experience and record to that of my opponent's and will choose a leader who has the qualifications to properly represent them.  That is why I respectfully ask for your vote on November 4th.

MAY 18, 2008

Councilman Keith E. Macksoud, District 3, Lime Rock - Fairlawn, announces that he will be running for re-election this November.  Mr. Macksoud is very proud of the many achievements he has made since taking office, and promises to continue to work diligently for his constituents, his district and the Town of Lincoln as a whole.

"These past three years have been very rewarding for me.  I truly feel that I have positively contributed to the betterment of my district and my Town.  There were many important issues that presented themselves this past year, and I feel that my actions reflected the desires and views of the taxpayers in my District"

Mr. Macksoud feels that he has kept the promises he made during his campaign, and has contributed significantly to the betterment of the Town.  Some of his achievements are:

  1. Successfully worked with Chief Justice Williams to locate the new court house building in Smithfield rather than in Lincoln.
  2. Submitted a Resolution and personally testified at the General Assembly against 24 hour gambling at Twin River.
  3. Provided alternative language for both the House and Senate bills regarding 24 hour gambling to minimize its effects on the Town and ensure that:
    1. They only operate 24 hours on weekends and holidays (instead of 7 days a week)
    2. The Town receives a higher percentage of the revenue generated during these hours
    3. The legislation have a sunset provision so that it can be re-examined in a year's time.
  4. Continuously worked to protect the rural characteristics of our Town during the Zoning change proposals.
  5. Submitted legislation to form the Lincoln Redevelopment Agency
  6. Submitted legislation to increase Veteran's tax exemption
  7. Submitted legislation to make the Financial Town Meeting more accessible.
  8. Actively participated in the mediation to procure the Camp Meehan property.
"Being and Independent, I have been in the minority on the Council, but I have always been the Independent voice for my constituents.  As exemplified by my actions, I am very willing to take the initiative and leadership role to ensure Lincoln's best interests are represented.  Even though we might disagree on issues, I have demonstrated that I can work harmoniously with all of my fellow councilors, the Town Administrator an the members of the General Assembly regardless of party affiliation in order to better our Town.  My disagreements with them have been respectful and based either on facts, or the desires of the taxpayers whom I represent."

"Three years ago I promised that I would serve my Town in the same manner in which I have served my Country for 26 years, and I believe I have done so.  That is why I have chosen to run for re-election, and once again will promise to serve the public's needs in an honest and exemplary manner."
